Class Content This class that builds on the concepts presented in the First Order Layout Class on June 21. Following up on first-order layout, we discuss how to trade custom vs catalog optics specifications and also how to anticipate and evaluate specification conflicts. The morning of the second day will be the lecture and the afternoon the hands on workshop that will present some basic examples of conflicts that can be solved with pencil and paper using estimates and rules of thumb. This class may be attended morning only or morning and afternoon. The Instructor First Order Layout and Geometrical Optics will be taught by Julie Bentley, an associate professor at The Institute of Optics, University of Rochester. Julie has been teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in geometrical optics, optical design and product design for more than 15 years.
