Description

The Introduction to Optical Tolerancing Techniques Course describes the basic concepts and approaches to the tolerancing of optical systems.  Tolerancing is more of an art than a science as two or more people will tolerance the same optical system and arrive at different solutions.  Suggestions will be made as to what approaches lead to systems that are more easily fabricated and assembled.  Design examples will be discussed that include a singlet lens, a Cooke triplet, two telescopes, and an IR Zoom lens.  These examples will be covered using the Zemax™ design program.
